Hey, It's 2009 and I'm still not dead. Look who's got egg on their faces now.
happy new year!
quote "We are all going to DIE before the end of this year. "
srry but we diddent :)
thanks to the guys who broke LHC
they wont be able to laumch it till spring now
I AM STILL ALIVE AND IT WORKS GOOD
New crap for yaa!!!
ok my new theory is that a black hole is a concentration of mater in ONE POINT
but mater can't be created soooo a black hole has just the gravity of the object that created it. Sooo now I ask you: which thing has more mater in it: the Earth or a hadron??? I'll answer forts ya: The Earth. Soooo the Earth has more gravitational pull than a hadron-size black hole.
This lead me into this conclusion: A mini-black hole would not suck the Earth.
O, and before you tell me about strangelets are a THEORY!!!
All of this was found in fisics book by stephen hawkings called the univers in a nut.

There was actually a rumor that the world would end within a week after that thing was finished in my school....
Btw: Vy rok or something
Aw crap i messed that up a little.. I mean that there was a rumor in my school and not that the thing was finished there
Desu!
Since this is going to be quite a large comment i just hope you are not already too sick of agressive comments from people who are more interested in spreading their own unqualified opinion than in the issue itself, which, no matter if one shares your opinion or not, definitely is very, very serious.
I'd like to give comments on different points of view, some of them have already been reflected by other submissions so please dont be upset if you read something you have already written about a couple of the times. Furthermore im German, so my grammar and spelling are probaly not better than yours.
How dangerous is the LHC, alone and in comparison to other, 'natural' phenomena?
This question is the core of the debate, not surprising since it may be a reason to fear for your life. I don't think it is possible to just say "It will kill us all" or "No worries, it's nothing to fear", and the fact that not even the most brilliant and specialised scientist of this planet all have the same opinion about what could/will happen makes this a hard issue to debate for people without their knowledge of the physical background.
Most predictions of the procedures inside the LHC are based on other theories, the existence of black holes for example has not been proven but just been predicted to by scientists who see them as the only way the formulas they believe to be true could be used in outer space. They were pretty much bending the universe around their formulas, not the other way 'round. They are not even sure what the Hadrons they speed up in the LHC really are. It really is like a bunch of kids playing with a box, shaking and rattling it to find out what may be in it.
On one hand, according to most of the predictions the probability of a fatal reaction destroying all earth and humanity is lower than the probability of a supernova of our sun within this year, practically impossible. But on the other hand it still IS possible and who cares if the odds were sooooo good if there's no one left to think about it?
In general the whole LHC project is, as well as most other terribly expensive projects, not only expandable but a huge misinvestment of a couple of rich and influential politicians and scientists pretending to know exactly what they are doing. You could (re)built the infrastructure of a whole third-world-country with that money instead of spending it for something that doesn't give us any usable outcome whatsoever.
I agree with you that the LHC project was a mistake and failure right from the beginning even though i dont share the idea of the high risk of being annihilated within this year.
If something should happen anyway and if there is some kind of afterlife, i'd be glad to debate with you about how wrong i was.
Greetings and best wishes to all humanity,
Tyrgaron
well... we're still here lol
holy fucking shit. this post is amazing.
Clearly your theory backfired. The only way we will all die is if two falcon punches collide. but the possibilities of that are impossible
BWAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA you dweeb the world has not ended.
IN YOUR FACE FLANDERS!!!!!
BWAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA
you stupid scaremongering dweeb
Interesting.... we're not dead...
The put it bluntly, you have no idea what you were talking about, these people are the top scientists of the world, but as soon as black holes are mentioned, the first thing that comes to everyone's mind is "ZOMGWE'REALLGONNADIE" If you could understand the exact physics behind the LHC, you would think otherwise.
Also, lets assume for a second you are correct, and a stable black hole did form and started destroying the earth, believe it or not, if the black hole hasn't gotten too big, it COULD be destroyed before it sucked up the whole earth.
the scientists all say "oh, well its impossible for a black hole to form, this is perfectly safe"... untill they start it up and someone in the back says "wait... OH CRAP! I THINK I MESSED UP THAT EQUATION!!!!"
hmmm... lets check the date Thursday OCT 8, 2009. Now let me take alook out side to see if in 2008 the world exploded... it seemes it didnt eh maybe this year or the year after if we're lucky, hell everyone says 2012 will be the big klaboiee so thats the best bet.
lawlmaster
50 bucks says that we'll go on for years before we all disappear.
